Why this matters

Anonymous content has nothing to attribute to. Choosing between sources of equal quality, an engine takes the one with a named author or organisation.

How to fix it

Which advice applies depends on what the audit found. The label is the condition that triggers it.

  • meta-only

    Add an author field (Person or Organization) to the Article JSON-LD. The meta tag carries far less weight.

  • markup-only

    Put the byline into the JSON-LD author field as well, so the engine does not have to guess.

  • missing

    Add a byline: Person for personal content, Organization for institutional content, declared in JSON-LD.
